A few pages about Signe Helena Nykvist, a.k.a. Helen Lundell
The most encouraging event since I started to research my family eight years back
happended early this year; I finally succeeded in finding relatives in the USA,
descendants of Signe Helena Nykvist, a sister to my grandmother. Signe emigrated
in 1913, and the last track of her was my father telling that he had met her in
New York back in 1934.
My father passed away many years ago, and all the usual tracks stopped at Ellis
Island in 1913. American spelling of foreign names didn't make it easier, in the
immigration records she is listed as "Seyne Helena Nygerit"
In January this year, I had a piece of luck, for Signe's uncle left a will that
became available on the Internet. In the will she is called Signe Lundell, so now
I knew that her married name was Lundell!
After a few days browsing American White pages I found a possible candidate for
being her son, wrote a snail mail letter to him, and - heureka! - he was!
Now we are busy making up for 97 years of no contact, and I have compiled a few
pages to publish here on our genealogy site.
They are:
Yours ever,
Ann Britt Bergström, née Eklund
